September 2026 Dog of the Month
This month, we would like to feature Ace and Ginger, owned by PF Chapter #728 member Tim Lucas. You won't find any dogs more spoiled and loved than these two.
Ace is a seven-year-old male Brittany, and Ginger is a bird-crazy six-year-old female Brittany. Ace is slow, gentle, and hunts close by. Ginger looks sweet and innocent, but in the field, she is fast and thinks every bird is hers. While Ace is not a strong retriever, Ginger will retrieve every bird and is an excellent tracker. As a funny habit, Ace will find one of Tim's shoes or boots and take it to the couch whenever he wants to go hunting or running. These two are the first bird dogs Tim has ever owned, and they truly bring a lot of joy into his life.
August 2026 Dog of the Month
Whether she was hunting hard in the fields or curled up for a long nap with her favorite person, Bella was a true champion.
She loved kids and loved to hunt, which made her the perfect dog for our chapter’s youth pheasant hunts.
Bella always believed her real job was to retrieve every bird, every single time, no matter who shot it.
If you ever hunted with her, you know exactly what I mean! Her favorite days in the field were spent hunting alongside her siblings, Hunter and Luna.
They just understood each other in a way that only they could. Bella will be forever loved and deeply missed by her companion, Ed Moss.
July 2026 Dog of the Month
Chapter # 728 is pleased to announce that the July Dog of the Month is Carlee!
Carlee is a 9-year-old yellow lab owned by Davie Leight (Chapter #728 Treasurer). She is very dedicated to her master but still loves to be independent in the field. While Carlee works slowly, she is incredibly focused and doesn't mess around when she's on the job. She is a great supplement to a pointing dog, as her pace allows her to flush birds close.
At home, Carlee enjoys her afternoon walks in the woods, sniffing around and seeing what has been out there. She is already looking forward to pheasant hunting again this season.
Please join me in recognizing Carlee as our Dog of the Month.
June 2026 Dog of the Month
Lucy is a three-year-old Hungarian Vizsla who belongs to Chapter Core Member Mike Ashley. She is a true "tale of two dogs". While she is a tornado with incredible endurance and tenacity in the field, she is a complete contrast at home, where she prefers to curl up like a ball and sleep on top of you.
As a Vizsla, Lucy requires at least one hour of vigorous exercise every day. As Mike can attest, the rewards are well worth the work. Lucy has already been out west hunting several times and has many more trips planned for the future.
Lucy is our featured dog this month.

Meet Reverend—“Rev”—our Pheasants Forever Dog of the Month!
Rev is a well-trained 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer who came to us from Hi-Point Kennels in Alliance, Ohio. True to his breed, he’s the perfect mix of energy, intelligence, and heart. Whether he’s charging through the field or greeting you at the door, Rev brings a boisterous spirit and affectionate personality to everything he does.
Rev has already built an impressive hunting résumé, pursuing wild game birds across Pennsylvania, New York, and throughout New England. This fall, he’ll be adding North Dakota to his map as we gear up for another exciting adventure. He has also proudly participated in several organized youth and veterans hunts, showcasing not only his skill but his steady temperament and love for working alongside people.
When the hunt is over, Rev knows how to unwind. You’ll usually find him stretched out on the couch or relaxing by the fireplace—proof that even the most driven dogs appreciate the quiet moments.
We couldn’t be prouder of this incredible companion. Congrats, Rev!
March 2026 Dog of the Month
Hunter, a 6 1/2 year old, 52lb male born to Garner's AKC Mountain Trek Brandy and Moss' AKC Maverick, eagerly demonstrates the strong field champion qualities of his lineage. He actively participates in the chapter's annual youth hunts, veteran hunts, and weekly pheasant hunts, all with his owner and handler Dave in tow. His capabilities including flushing birds from cover and retrieving harvested game to hand.
During the offseason, Hunter stays active by swimming in the pond (especially when people are fishing), as well as chasing frogs, catching frisbees, and enjoying long naps on his favorite day bed.
